Quality Function Deployment (QFD) walks business leaders and managers through the process of assessing the needs of customers and what it will take to satisfy them. The purpose of this process is ultimately to measure customer satisfaction with a specific product or service, and the methodology is structured using seven management and planning tools to identify and prioritize customer expectations efficiently.
The process begins with the creation of a House of Quality matrix. The QFD system focuses on the most important product or service attributes – broken out into customer wows, wants and musts. After prioritizing attributes and qualities, the QFD model allows business leaders to disseminate information and recommendations to relevant department heads for action.
