Digitizing Manufacturing at Accu-Tube

Founded in 1973, Accu-Tube has become a world leader in manufacturing precision stainless steel tubing for the Medical Device industry. Accu-Tube is one of only a handful of suppliers that has in-house centerless grinding capabilities, allowing the company to achieve the tight tolerances necessary to prepare tubes for Swiss machining. Accu-Tube produces more than 3 million feet of Swiss-machine-ready tubing annually.

The Challenge

Accu-tube recognized that its teams relied on labor-intensive methods, such as SQDC boards and paper-based systems, which were time-consuming, prone to errors, and lacked real-time visibility. This hindered efficient data management and decision-making, preventing the company from fully harnessing the power of data for process improvement.

The Solution

By replacing manual SQDC (Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost) boards and paper-based systems with digital displays on the shop floor, Accu-tube achieved significant improvements in efficiency and data management. The company also customized Praxie’s software to incorporate an SQL widget, enabling seamless integration of data from its existing operations. To facilitate real-time information sharing, big screen TVs were strategically placed on the production floor to display production data such as a “Safety Bingo” system. With customizable features, real-time data visibility, and user-friendly interfaces, Praxie’s software empowers Accu-tube to enhance efficiency, optimize resources, improve data management, and make informed decisions for continuous process improvement.
